Learn about the benefits of collecting and submitting their utility data on a free program like EPA PORTFOLIO MANAGER or hiring and energy consultant or a fee-based service to this. Understand the benefits in terms of utility savings, better green financing terms, and the ability to engage tenants about energy efficiency in order to incentivize action. Describe the basics of performance benchmarking such as: a) why are state (HFA’s, local govt’s, Elevate Energy) and national (DOE, EPA, USGBC, Enterprise) organizations interested in comparing building performance at a large scale, b) how does a manager collect the right utility data and building characteristics, c) what are the benefits for the owner/manager, and d) how can they use their benchmarks to make informed capital and operational decisions for their portfolio. Pre-requisite knowledge: A vague understanding of EnergyStar’s PORTFOLIO MANAGER, deregulated energy markets, local and natl benchmarking initiatives like the 2030 Districts and the Better Buildings Challenge, and green financing as these are all topics that will be mentioned during the webinar Who? Residential owner/managers, primarily in the multifamily space, residential architects and builders looking to implement ongoing programs to benefit customers.
