This webinar will outline how buildings now support a smooth transition to an All-Renewable Energy future via the Classic, Plus and Premium Passive House building standards. Learn how this newly revised calculus of Primary Energy Renewables allows for an equitable accounting of renewable energy credits for all building types, without penalizing urban density or less-than-optimum site orientation. Primary Energy Renewable factors will be explained, with examples of how these are both climate and region-specific. Find out how this system allows for utilities to regain their place in the energy eco-system as large-scale, long-term renewable energy storage providers and suppliers.
This course is aimed at anyone working on carbon reduction strategies for buildings at both local and regional levels. We’ll take this concept from a single building and expand our view to explore how implementing this protocol could drastically reduce the carbon impact of buildings across the United States while incentivizing fuel-switching technology to realize our All Renewable Energy Future Now!
Lessons Learned
Learn about Primary (or Source) Energy and why it matters when calculating the carbon footprint of your project.
Learn why ‘Net Zero’ site energy is not the same as ‘Net Zero’ Source energy and why this matters.
Learn about regional Source Energy generation factors and how electricity generated in one region may have a higher carbon footprint than the same amount of electricity generated in another region of the U.S.
Learn about Primary Energy Renewable factors (PER factors) and how they support an All Renewable Energy grid.
